Summer Smoky Eye - Copper!

Tips & Tricks

Smoky eyes are always stunning, but can be a bit harsh in the summer light. One of my favourite ways to lighten up a black or very dark eye is by using copper hues! The shade's warm undertones look great with glowing, tanned skin and can really make any eye colour pop!

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley looked gorgeous at the Cannes Film Festival with this coppery-bronze smoky eye and a touch of tan on her cheeks.

You just need a few tools to get the perfect copper smoky eye!

Using a palette of copper and bronze shades, apply a warm nude colour across your entire lid, and then apply a copper-tan shade to the crease of your eye. To line, trace a true deep copper shade along the natural curve your eye starting at the middle of your lash line, working outward (see above for my favourite true copper shades - try the shade circled in the eye palette above for a diffused look, or the gel pencil liner for a more intense effect). Highlight with a peachy nude shade in inner corner & brow bone.

As for mascara, try creating a beaming copper mascara of your own! All you need is a copper powder (try a loose one, or the same one from the palette above), brown mascara and a liner brush. Mix them together and apply with the liner brush to the tips of your lashes on top of your normal mascara to create interest & attract light!
