The Best Skincare & Makeup for Cold Weather

Tips & Tricks

Spring is almost here! Check out the new ultra Spring-y Target commercial featuring Pixi below – I’m so excited to have been a part of this!

However, many areas (like my native Sweden earlier this winter in the photos below) still have a while before they are able to celebrate in the sun like the ladies in the commercial!

My dear friend & beauty expert Amanda Bell has some great advice on keeping skin in a great state, even in the cold! Read on for her top tips & product recommendations...

From Amanda:

Cold weather can leave you looking dull, feeling dry and in a sensitized state. This means that your skin needs a little extra boost to just get the glow back.

These are my top 3 recommendations that will get your skin looking gorgeous with minimum effort:

1. Invest in a treatment hydrating masque. Depending on your skin type, this can be used once to 3 times a week. Skin will feel plump and soothed - it is an instant way of replenishing moisture into the skin. My favourite all-rounder is Burt's Bees Intensive Hydration Treatment Mask.

2. Exfoliate. As somebody with ultra sensitive skin, I like to use a mild liquid exfoliant rather than an abrasive scrub. I have been using Pixi Glow Tonic for years and I love the way that it leaves my skin brighter and smoother without any damage or irritation. Perfect for all skin types and it will help to banish that dull, lacklustre look!

3. Use a booster treatment. Weleda Skin Food is something I have been using as the ultimate boost for my skin and I absolutely swear by it. I use it very sparingly, applying at night, and it literally leaves my skin feeling like velvet. Packed with natural botanicals, it's great to use any time you feel that your skin is "out of sorts" and in need of some extra care.

After skin is taken care of, I love to embellish for cold weather with a few key makeup items:

Illuminating Tint & Conceal - Reflection of the sun off of snow can be just as damaging as a day at the beach. Seal in moisture and protect with this tinted moisturizer & concealer duo with added SPF.

Shea Butter Lip Balm - Keep lips feeling hydrated & cushiony-soft with this plush lip balm.

Sheer Cheek Gel - Get a hint of a translucent, "just came in from the cold" flush with this water-based blush.

Lash Booster Mascara - Keep lashes dark, curled, and perfectly defined with this waterproof mascara that won't budge, even during a wind-swept walk outside.

Let me know how you keep your skin perfected, even in cold weather!
